Still holding USDC on Young Platform? Here is how to keep using it with the DeFi Wallet

Deposits and withdrawals for USDC are no longer supported on Young Platform. But rest assured: your funds are not locked. You can transfer them to the DeFi Wallet and continue operating freely.
If you still hold USDC in your account, this article is for you. Before we begin, let’s clarify an essential distinction: although deposits and withdrawals are no longer available on our exchange, USDC’s situation is entirely different from USDT’s. While USDT did not seek the necessary authorizations, USDC is a fully compliant electronic money token (EMT) for the European market, which is why it has not been delisted. Here is how you can continue using your USDC on Young Platform.
USDC is a fully compliant stablecoin
Understanding this distinction is key: USDC is a stablecoin that fully complies with European crypto-asset regulations. In fact, USDC is a dollar-pegged stablecoin (1 USDC = $1) issued by Circle, backed 1:1 by Circle’s reserves. Put simply, for every USDC in circulation, Circle holds a “real” dollar in reserve. Consequently, USDC is authorized across the European Union as an Electronic Money Token (EMT) under the MiCAR (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulation.
Let’s quickly revisit the USDT vs. USDC comparison: in the first case (USDT), issuer Tether chose not to pursue European authorization; therefore, USDT was appropriately phased out from regulated exchange platforms, including Young Platform. In the second case (USDC), however, issuer Circle completed the entire formal process and secured regulatory approval from European supervisory authorities. That is why you have nothing to worry about when it comes to USDC.
What has changed on Young Platform
Today on Young Platform, depositing and withdrawing USDC is no longer supported: this is a strictly operational adjustment that forms part of the updates implemented upon obtaining our MiCAR license. Therefore, as explained above, this is not an issue regarding the regulatory compliance of the token: any USDC currently in your account remains entirely yours and naturally preserves its full value.
The real question is not “Are my funds locked and what should I do?” because, quite simply, they are not locked. The pertinent question to ask is: “how can I keep using them?“.
This is where the DeFi Wallet comes in.
Access the world of DeFi with Young Platform’s DeFi Wallet
Even though direct deposits and withdrawals are discontinued on the exchange interface, you can still put your USDC to work through Young Platform. How? By transferring it into your DeFi Wallet. But what exactly is the DeFi Wallet?
To use an analogy, the Young Platform DeFi Wallet is the bridge that grants you intuitive access to the universe of decentralized finance, commonly known as DeFi. If you’re new to these concepts, we recommend reading our primer on what DeFi is, or our deep dive dedicated to how the DeFi Wallet works.
In either case, it is essential to understand that the DeFi Wallet is non-custodial (self-custody). By definition, a non-custodial crypto wallet is one where the user maintains exclusive control over private keys and deposited funds without third-party involvement.
This means that whenever you use the Young Platform DeFi Wallet, you alone hold the access credentials; consequently, you are the sole owner of the assets inside. In short: you can do whatever you want, whenever you want, however you want.
Therefore, once transferred there, the USDC sitting in your account becomes immediately actionable again, and you—and only you—decide how to deploy it.
Once transferred to the DeFi Wallet, what can you actually do?
There is no single “right” answer for everyone; it all depends on you and your individual goals. However, it is worth exploring a few options, all readily accessible from one place: Young Platform’s DeFi Wallet. You can:
- Keep it in self-custody, meaning safeguarding it in your DeFi Wallet strictly under your own control. This is a completely legitimate choice with zero time limits: you decide how long to leave it there.
- Convert it into EURC if you prefer euros. If you prefer calculating in euros or wish to avoid exposure to the EUR/USD foreign exchange rate, you can convert your USDC into EURC via an on-chain swap. EURC, as the name suggests, is Circle’s euro-denominated equivalent of USDC. This is an objective alternative, not financial advice.
- Access DeFi services. USDC is among the most widely adopted stablecoins across lending protocols. In short, lending allows you to earn rewards by supplying your crypto-assets—such as USDC—through decentralized liquidity protocols. Naturally, like any activity generating yield, lending carries inherent risks: in decentralized finance, these relate to smart contract bugs, protocol performance, and token issuer risks.
Ultimately, the DeFi Wallet lets you shift your mindset from “what am I forced to do?” to “what can I choose to do?“. Transferring your USDC to the DeFi Wallet gives you the freedom to explore an ever-evolving ecosystem, with everything that exploration entails: responsibilities and opportunities, risks and rewards.
In summary
If you still hold USDC on Young Platform, there is no need to worry: it is a fully regulated, compliant stablecoin that has not been delisted, and its underlying value remains completely intact. While direct deposits and withdrawals on the custodial exchange have ceased, the in-app DeFi Wallet lets you bring your assets back to life. From there, you decide what to do: hold in self-custody, convert into EURC, or participate in DeFi.
And remember: if you have any questions, our support team is always here to help you every step of the way.
Risk disclosure
The DeFi Wallet is a self-custody tool operating outside the regulatory perimeter of the MiCAR regulation. Because it is a non-custodial wallet, Young Platform does not hold your private keys and has no access to your funds at any time: you maintain sole responsibility for their custody. Consequently, Young Platform cannot recover your funds in the event of user error, lost access credentials, transfers to incorrect addresses, or improper transactions.
