Token

It’s often used as a synonym of cryptocurrency or coin. It actually refers to any good that is given a value in a specific context and with a specific function. Sort of like plastic tokens at the amusement park. Let’s say that every token costs £1. If I buy 30 tokens, I can go on many rides inside the amusement park. However outside of the amusement park, those tokens have no value at all.
