What is Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET)
Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET) is a project that combines artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, born from the merger of three leading players in the AI-crypto sector: Fetch.ai, SingularityNET and Ocean Protocol. Its stated goal is to build a decentralised, open-source artificial intelligence infrastructure, as an alternative to AI models controlled by a few large players.
FET is the alliance’s native crypto-asset: with the merger, the tokens of the individual projects converged into a single token, which kept the FET ticker. Much of the technological infrastructure comes from Fetch.ai, around which the project was built.
Origins: from Fetch.ai to the alliance
Fetch.ai was founded in 2017 by CEO Humayun Sheikh and launched via an IEO on Binance. Its most distinctive element are the Autonomous Economic Agents (AEA): software programs able to analyse data and act autonomously on behalf of users, companies or devices, negotiating and coordinating with one another within a digital economy. The infrastructure is built with the Cosmos SDK and uses the WASM language.
In 2024 Fetch.ai joined SingularityNET, known for its marketplace of decentralised AI services, and Ocean Protocol, focused on data sharing and monetisation, giving rise to the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance and unifying their respective tokens under FET.
What the FET token is for
FET is the utility token that powers the ecosystem: it is used to pay transaction fees, to develop and register the agents and to access the alliance’s services. With the merger, it now represents the entire ecosystem of the three combined projects.
The network is secured by a Proof of Stake mechanism: those who hold FET can put it in staking to contribute to security and receive rewards, which remain variable and not guaranteed.
FET is tied to two widely-followed but still-evolving themes, artificial intelligence and crypto-assets, and the project’s success also depends on the actual integration between the three ecosystems brought together in the alliance.
