What is PancakeSwap (CAKE)
PancakeSwap is one of the leading decentralised exchanges (DEX), born on BNB Chain (Binance’s blockchain). This page is for informational purposes only: PancakeSwap is not currently supported by Young Platform.
CAKE is the platform’s reference token; over time the platform has expanded to numerous networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Linea and others.
How it works: the AMM model
PancakeSwap works with the automated market maker (AMM) model: trades happen against liquidity pools managed by smart contracts, without a central intermediary. Users who deposit their tokens in the pools can receive variable, non-guaranteed rewards.
What the CAKE token is for
CAKE is used to access the platform’s services, to take part in governance and for staking. PancakeSwap also offers sections dedicated to NFTs, gaming and derivative products: these last features are not offered by Young Platform, which only allows the spot buying and selling of supported crypto-assets.
What to consider
Launched in 2020, CAKE has had a highly volatile trend, with an all-time high reached in 2021. The token’s value is closely tied to the platform’s activity and to the health of the DeFi ecosystem.
