What is Hyperliquid (HYPE)
Hyperliquid is a decentralised exchange (DEX) specialised in perpetual derivatives (perpetual futures), built on its own high-performance Layer 1 blockchain. It positions itself as an alternative to centralised exchanges and to venture-capital-dominated protocols, with a community-oriented token distribution and no private funding.
One point should be clarified from the outset: Hyperliquid is a protocol created for trading derivative instruments. Young Platform does not offer derivatives trading or leveraged products: on our exchange it is possible to buy and sell the HYPE token on a spot basis, like any other crypto-asset.
The HYPE token
HYPE is the network’s native token: it is used to pay fees, to take part in governance and in staking (with any rewards being variable and not guaranteed). A majority share of the supply was allocated to users and developers; the so-called Genesis Distribution, in late 2024, assigned a significant part of the supply to tens of thousands of eligible users via airdrop.
The economic model includes buy-back & burn mechanisms fuelled by the protocol’s fees. It should be noted that part of the supply is subject to future emissions, an element that can affect the token’s dynamics over time.
How it works
Unlike DEXs that operate on third-party blockchains, Hyperliquid developed its own Layer 1, designed to run an on-chain order book with low latency, bringing the experience closer to that of centralised exchanges while keeping the decentralised logic. This allowed it to record very high trading volumes.
The fact remains that the core of the protocol is derivatives trading, a complex and high-risk activity that is outside what Young Platform offers.
Price trends and what to consider
Like all crypto-assets, HYPE has shown a highly volatile price trend and is a recent project. As this is the token of a derivatives protocol, it is important to distinguish between the spot purchase of the token — possible on Young Platform — and derivatives trading activity, which Young Platform does not offer.
