What is Jupiter (JUP)

Jupiter is one of the most popular decentralised exchanges (DEX) on Solana: within a few months of launch it reached around 200,000 active wallets and high daily volumes, ranking among the network’s most used decentralised applications. The JUP token is used to take part in the project’s governance and to access some platform features.

Jupiter is also an aggregator: it searches across multiple sources for the most convenient swap route, and works as a bridge aggregator to move crypto-assets between different blockchains. The platform offers various order types, including recurring buys (DCA), and also gives access to derivative contracts: Young Platform does not offer derivatives trading, but it does allow the JUP token to be bought on a spot basis.

How it began

The JUP token was distributed via an airdrop in February. The launch was preceded by that of the meme coin WEN, used by the team as a “stress test” to check the exchange’s behaviour under load before issuing JUP.

The total value locked (TVL) on the platform is measured in the hundreds of millions of dollars, confirming Jupiter’s leading role in Solana’s DeFi ecosystem.
