What is Shiba Inu (SHIB)
Shiba Inu is the second most famous memecoin in the world, created in 2020 as an experiment to replicate Dogecoin and which over time became a fully-fledged ecosystem. It is an ERC-20 crypto-asset based on Ethereum, backed by a very active community known as the ShibArmy.

The Shiba Inu ecosystem
The ecosystem includes three main tokens: SHIB, the reference crypto-asset; LEASH, usable within the protocol; and BONE, the governance token that powers Shibarium, the network’s Layer 2 scaling solution.
Over time the project has introduced a decentralised governance system (Doggy DAO), an NFT collection (The Shiboshis), a mobile game (Shiba Eternity) and other initiatives. Shibarium has surpassed 2 million registered addresses and hundreds of millions of transactions.
How it began and what to consider
Shiba Inu was created by an anonymous developer known as Ryoshi, who in his document (the Woofpaper) described it as an “experiment in decentralisation” led by the community rather than by a central team. Its spread was also fuelled by media attention.
