Bitcoin Dominance
Bitcoin Dominance is an indicator that measures Bitcoin’s (BTC) weight relative to the entire crypto-asset market. It is calculated by dividing Bitcoin’s market capitalisation by the total market capitalisation of all crypto-assets and expressed as a percentage.
A rising dominance indicates that Bitcoin’s capitalisation is growing in proportion to the rest of the market; a falling dominance indicates the opposite. The value can change due to price movements in Bitcoin, movements in other crypto-assets, and new projects entering the market.
Bitcoin Dominance is used as a descriptive metric to assess the market composition and Bitcoin’s relative strength compared with other crypto-assets. It does not indicate future price movements and is not an indicator of returns.
