Genesis Block

Bitcoin’s genesis block is the first block created on its blockchain on 3 January 2009 at 18:18 and marked the beginning of an era. Satoshi Nakamoto decided to emphasise this historic event by inscribing a message within the only transaction on the block: ‘The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks’.
