What is Manta (MANTA)
Manta is a multi-modular blockchain that uses zero-knowledge rollup technology, solutions that compress transactions to reduce costs and times while maintaining security. It is made up of two distinct networks: Manta Atlantic (a network in the Polkadot ecosystem) and Manta Pacific (a Layer 2 compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine).
Note: Manta is not currently supported by Young Platform; this page is purely informational. MANTA is the network’s governance token, distributed in part through an airdrop.
How it works
Manta’s “modular” approach separates the different tasks of a blockchain (execution, data availability, consensus), entrusting them to specialised components: for data availability, for example, it relies on Celestia. The goal is to offer developers a scalable and cheap environment to build applications, in particular those that use zero-knowledge proofs for privacy.
Manta Pacific, in particular, aims to make the use of zk-based applications simple and cheap, a technically complex area.
How it began
The project, based in Boston, was founded in 2020 by co-founders Victor Ji, Kenny Li and Shumo Chu, and raised funding from investors such as Polychain and Binance Labs. The token was distributed in early 2024.
Like many recent Layer 2s, Manta operates in a very competitive sector, in which numerous networks compete for developers and liquidity.

Like all crypto-assets, MANTA has shown a highly volatile price trend and is a relatively recent project. Its quotations can be influenced by the general trend of the crypto market, by the network’s adoption and by token-release schedules.
