Decentralised
Decentralised describes a system in which functions and decisions do not depend on a single central authority, but are distributed among many participants. In a decentralised network, for example, no single entity alone controls the operation or the data.
Public blockchains are an example of a decentralised system: transactions are validated and recorded by a distributed network of nodes. The degree of decentralisation, however, varies from project to project and is not an absolute characteristic: some networks are more decentralised than others.
