DLT systems (Distributed Ledger Technologies) are based on a shared ledger, which is digital information synchronised and distributed globally without centralised management. Each node in the network holds the same copy of the database and can modify it and validate it, but once the operations are confirmed they are irreversible. An example of a DLT system is the blockchain, but there are others.
