On-chain
A transaction or process is said to be on-chain when it occurs on the blockchain and is thus immutably recorded on it, benefiting from its decentralisation. We also speak of ‘on-chain data‘ to refer to all the information that can be obtained from the blockchain ledger. This data is used in on-chain analysis by traders to understand the movements and flows of cryptocurrencies in order to identify opportunities. The opposite of ‘on-chain’ is off-chain.
