Testnet
A testnet is a blockchain network that is used for testing and development purposes of new applications and features. Typically, testnets are a separate version of a blockchain’s main network (mainnet), where both users and developers can experiment and test new features without risking losing cryptocurrencies or assets.
Testnets are essential for creating decentralised applications (DApps) on a blockchain, as they allow users to test their functionality and fix any problems before launching the application on the mainnet.
In addition, testnets can be used to test the performance and scalability of the blockchain, i.e., the speed of processing large volumes of transactions.
